  • Special speaker at the Wild Herb Weekend is James Duke. James A. "Jim" Duke, PhD (UNC, 1961) calls North Carolina home, because that's where he learned almost everything he knows about plants. He retired from the USDA in 1995, after a 32-year career as an Economic Botanist. Today he continues his work of compiling data on medicinal plants and updating several of his books. Dr. Duke offers a unique and intimate view of ecology, herbalism and experience in working with the Shamanic culture of the Amazon Rainforest. He has journeyed to this region over 50 times and has lectured to many groups who have traveled with him. Jim serves as a board member and advisor to many organizations which are involved in herbal medicines and the Amazon rainforest.

  • Quarterly newsletter to keep members current on NCHA activities, herbal events and interests, and to provide a forum for information exchange.

  • Network opportunities in an organization of herb enthusiasts including avid gardeners, herb growers, business people, lecturers, and researchers.
